Feb 09, 2012 - The new tutorial explains the main features of LTE-Advanced as defined in 3GPP Release 10 and takes a look at the impact on test and measurement methodology. This tutorial is a continuation of the successful Rohde & Schwarz LTE tutorial series.

In order to make LTE a true 4th generation mobile communications technology, it is being enhanced to meet the IMT-Advanced requirements. The necessary enhancements, which are specified in 3GPP Release 10 and later, are known as LTE-Advanced. The comprehensive 90-minute tutorial provides an introduction to the main features currently being discussed and defined by the 3GPP standardization body. This includes carrier aggregation, enhanced intercell interference coordination (eICIC) and enhanced SC-FDMA, as well as MIMO enhancements in the downlink and uplink direction. The impact on test and measurement methodology is also explained. The tutorial concludes with a brief look at the latest features proposed for 3GPP Release 11.
